ONE
GOOD DAY
My favorite person sighs at the site of the new green so bright
As it screams from the outstretched spring of the trees as they pray.
We sing praises as he Finds his glasses where he left them,
under the stands after the first day of track practice.
3/4 of the way into the year, yet he was the buckspring that amped his team,
he tells me, as we errand around through this blossom strewn town.
Aghast again he gasps ‘the color.’
So bright purple in front of the brick red house.
‘Life’s so full of possibility.’ He exclaimed in response to the rich hue.
That's how purple is expressed through. ‘Like hearing the name of god.’
He says like a Lightning strike.
On the way to study bass or drums maybe
we pass the most amazing Magnolia tree.
We screech to a stop as he hops out to ditch his shoes
to climb high into the canopy
for a slow dance with the wind and his will.
I am full to overflowing from day one till still,
with the love for this one, this one Son.
Before we park at the hardware store
where he hugs a friend
and introduces them as they
between glue and nails at Ace
we share in the grace.
Of this one good day.
